Statement
Having in mind Nietzsche’s idea of “the eternal return”, my artistic interest revolves around the understanding of impermanence and the desire to perpetuate existence. Assuming the continuous flow of change, my work speculates on the role of forgetting, for which I deconstruct the complexity of reality, seeking to experience a more naive contact with the world. I believe that from this naiveté, and through art, we are able to ‘fold’ pre-established concepts, bringing new perspectives from a sensory experience; I am keen to research the idea of re-modulation of space and how we relate to it.
Perceiving is almost an act of immanence, which goes beyond the senses and stimulates the process of remembering. With this idea in mind, I investigate the relationship between the subject and the space through the sensation of consciousness. Mainly because of how we relate to the "new," what we discover, from the position of what is known or experienced already.
I am a multidisciplinary artist, who experiments constantly mixing and exploring with a broad variety of materials, techniques, and processes in apparent chaos. In my work, I am interested in investigating and showing the process of creative steps. I do this by providing transparency to the added layers, which acts as traces of human existence. These layers are sometimes; paper collages, light projections or photographic exposure times that over impress in a single element, on which I continue working, taking it into an almost infinite process.
Some references are artists like Jessica Stockholder, William Kentridge, or Joan Jonas, also philosophers like Gilles Deleuze, Julian Kristeva, Jacques Rancière who made me contextualize and understand the art practice in the contemporary world.
Introduction to this web folio
I organized this web folio to understand the evolving of my practice since two years ago. Through different mind maps, theoretical and practical examples I tried to frame the last piece for the MFA Show. Also through Professional Show Cases and some Critical Analysis, I reflected on how my practice is presented abroad with a contextualized sense. Finally, I also included a Personal Story which helps to understand my motivations as an artist.
